The WSOP Europe Main Event saw 688 players put up the €10k buy-in to enter this event, building a huge prize pool of €6,536,000 and making this the largest WSOPE Main Event ever seen!
Josef Gulaf Jr. bested Johan Guilbert heads-up to take it down for the Czech Republic, scooping the bracelet as well as a lifetime best score of an incredible €1,267,712. Even more amazingly, he had an entry to the event already in store thanks to a 3rd place finish in the €250 IPS Main Event back in June.
A simple classic coin flip decided things in the end, with Gulas open shoving his A♦8♠ into Guilbert’s 2♣2♥, nailing a sweet 8♥ on the river to seal the win.
Gulaf says he plans to build a house and save his money, thanks to this big score. The car salesman might also be considering a change in career, after such a major victory in poker!
Runner-up Johan Guilbert, who took home €789,031 for his troubles, is a well-known poker streamer from France, “YoH ViraL”. He’ll be frustrated with this 2nd place as he also finished runner-up for a WSOP bracelet back in 2020, but the large payday should help to soften the blow!
All-in-all this victory signed off an excellent WSOPE series at the massive Kings Casino in the Czech Republic, and we’re sure they’ll see an even bigger turnout next year!
