Inside the client
Why play at Betsson?
Betsson is one of the oldest names in European gambling, tracing its history to 1963, and its poker room recently moved to the iPoker network. That move transformed the game selection and the traffic. The first deposit bonus is 100% up to €600, and the loyalty programme pays cashback from 10% at Bronze to 30% at Star level.
The player pool is noticeably recreational. Betsson's casino and sportsbook customers wander into the poker lobby, and the games are soft compared with traditional poker-first sites.
Games
No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha cash games up to $5/$10, plus Omaha Hi/Lo and Stud variants at lower stakes. The tournament schedule is consistent, with daily freerolls and recurring series. Twisters run with their own leaderboard, and SNGs are available in the standard formats.
Promotions
Regular tournament series such as the Royal Series, freeroll events, Daily Flops and the Avatar Hunt promotion keep the calendar busy. Minimum deposit for the welcome bonus is €10. Sponsored pros include Stephan Kjerstad, Anders Smadal and Ove Stenberg.
Software
The lobby is user-friendly and a browser version is available alongside the download. Multi-tabling is supported and cash games are anonymous. The interface could be more refined than some competitors, which is a minor complaint rather than a real problem.
HUDs are permitted.
Deposits and withdrawals
Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, ecoPayz, Neteller, Paysafecard and Trustly are accepted.
Restricted countries
Betsson Poker restricts players from a long list of countries including the US, UK and Australia, and many across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Mobile
Browser play on phones and tablets; no dedicated app.
Verdict
Soft games, a sensible €600 bonus and a well-established operator. Betsson is a safe, pleasant place to play that just lacks the top-end rakeback races and the larger guarantees of its network siblings.
