Phil Ivey has shown the world once again that he has what it takes to beat the toughest games in existence, going on a run in the High Roller events in Cyprus and shipping $50k PLO Super High Roller Tournament Event #4 for a sick $640,000 score!
Not only that, but Ivey has had a strong showing in both this Super High Roller Series (SHRSE) and the Triton Poker Series which ran immediately beforehand in the Merit Crystal Cove Resort & Casino in North Cyprus, stacking up two wins and five total cashes across the several events and positioning himself at the top of the PokerGO leaderboard for the SHRSE which culminates in the wallet-mangling $250k buy-in Super High Roller Bowl.
Event #4 saw 32 of the best PLO players in the world pony up the massive entry fee to play, and just five players would make the money, with Ivey eventually squaring up to crusher Ali Imsirovic heads-up for the final payjump of $224k and the trophy.
The final hand saw Ivey dealt A♥A♣8♦4♥ versus Imsirovic’s K♥Q♣6♦2♥ and a Q♦ 3♠ J♠ flop coupled with a very low stack-to-pot ratio meant they were all in on the flop, with no help for Imsirovic when the board ran out 4♠ 7♣ meaning that Ivey was crowned champion of this event.
Ivey was typically relaxed whilst speaking on his victory afterwards, quipping “It’s always nice to win a tournament.” You would know it, champ!
