Start 2023 in Style With the Pokerstars New Year Series

It’s official, 2022 is behind us, and we’re into the wonderfully futuristic-sounding world of 2023. No matter how good or bad your 2022 was, you can start your 2023 in style by participating in the Pokerstars New Year Series. With $40 million in guaranteed prizes, this is a tournament series you won’t want to miss.

Tournament Schedule

The New Year Series has already kicked off, with the first events taking place on December 25th. However, don’t worry if this is the first you’re hearing of this event; Pokerstars has tournaments running all the way until January 17th, so there’s still plenty of time to join the action!

Tournaments are every day until the end of the series, with the earliest events often starting around 16:00GMT and the latest events starting around 22:00GMT. This series offers tournaments with buyins for every bankroll level, with the smallest events starting from as little as $2.20 all the way up to the high roller events, where buyins are as high as $10,300!

As there are so many tournaments on offer, we won’t make you scroll through a huge list just to find the one you want; you can find all the information you need about the schedule on the Pokerstars client. Instead, we’re going to focus on the Main Event of the series, which starts on January 15th. There are three tiers of events, low, medium, and high, so everyone has a chance to compete for a huge payday. It’s a three-day event with a slow structure, so there’s plenty of play in it, and you don’t have to worry about it becoming a shove fest within a couple of hours like most tournaments! There’s a $1 million guaranteed for the low event, $1.25 million guaranteed for the medium event, and $1.5 million guaranteed for the high event, so it’s well worth taking a shot if you can afford it!

Satellites

If your bankroll can’t quite stretch to a $109 buy-in, satellites are running throughout the event for as little as $0.30. As is always the case with satellites, the lower your buy-in, the luckier you’re going to have to get to earn a seat into the tournament, so if you want a quick way in, we’d recommend looking at the higher-value satellites.

There are multiple ways to satellite into the events; you can play the classic MTT satellites which often offer multiple seats into the event, you can play Sit and Go satellites, which often only have one or two seats for a specific event, or you can play Pokerstars’ New Year Series Spin and Gos to win yourself a tournament ticket.
